I went in to GrrMart today to apply for a job. I wore a shirt that I'm actually comfortable in (this was the first time in my job search that it was cool enough for this particular shirt), which also happens to be the same shirt I wore for my Conferences interview. It's kind of my lucky interview shirt. I actually felt kind of pretty before I left the house this morning, and I wasn't nearly as nervous as usual. I was fully prepared to answer the interview questions that usually hang me up... and then when I got there, there was practically no interview. The woman looked over my application, asked a couple of questions related to what I wrote, and that was it. I'm not really complaining, it was just... unexpected.
I wish I had found that ad sooner, because they didn't have any full time positions available (I thought they'd wait until the end of the interviewing period and then hire the best people, but apparently it's more of a rolling admissions deal, because two people who had already been hired came in to do paperwork while i was applying). I'm glad I didn't wait until Monday when I have my Toys R Us interview, because they did still have part time positions. The woman I talked to said it would be about 20 hours a week (more the first week before the store opens), and she said she would send in my paperwork to be sure but she didn't see any reason I wouldn't be hired. So hopefully that will work out.
If it does work out, I hope I hear from them before my interview at Toys R Us, because I really hate interviews and don't want to do any more than necessary. If GrrMart hires me first, I plan to take the job even though I could potentially still interview at Toys R Us and see if they'll give me full time. I just get the feeling that I'll get in there and find out that Toys R Us only wants seasonal people, even though I didn't mark seasonal on my application, and I'd rather have a part time job year round than a seasonal job. Plus, if I interview on the 29th, I might not hear back before I'd have to let GrrMart know... if they hire me, I'll start October 4th, and waiting to hear from one place while having to let another place know is an extra stress I do not need in my life. Plus, I'd rather have a GrrMart discount than a Toys R Us discount.
Here's hoping I'll be employed very, very soon.
