Saturday Joey and I got two kittens.. they are so adorable.. I want everyone to stop by and see them..
Saturday morning we went to the greater portland animal refuge league.. aka westbrook a.r.l.. the woman there yelled at us because on the application we wrote that we were undecided on the issue of declawing.. oh yes she yelled at us.. and told us all kinds of false info that just made us feel like assholes.. she told use that in order to declaw a cat the vet must break the kitten's feet.. which is completely false.. they extend the claw just like the cat would itself and clip it with like nail clippers at the base of the tendon and that's it there is no breaking involved at all.. that lady was so full of shit.. oh and my favorite was when she told us that you can't declaw a cat after 6 weeks of age.. BULLSHIT!!.. one a kitten 6 weeks old wouldn't be able to handle the drugs needed for the surgery ( even though they are very mild) and a cat cannot be legaly given away or sold until after 8 weeks.. a cat can be declawed anywhere from 8 weeks to 6 months after six months most if not all vets won't do it.. needless to say this angry chicky is dropping a very nasty letter in the mail box of the refuge league... there was no need for that woman to make us feel that way and they are going to know exactly how I feel! bitches..
on a lighter note.. Joey and I drove up to Harvest Hills Refuge league in fryburg after I called them and asked them if they had any kittens and asked them more about declawing (which is where I got some good info on it and not to mention even better info from Joey's mom who declawed runner)and told them what happened at westbrook.. they have an absolutly amazing facility.. It is so gorgeous.. it isn't sad looking like the one in westbrook.. and you can tell that they animals are happy there.. each "cage" has an outside section as big as the inside section.. so each "cage" has a kitty or doggie door.. the cats you can take out and play with or sit with at your own free will there aren't any locks on them or I should say no locks that you need a keep for or assistance for and everything is so clean and bright looking it's just amazing.. and the people there are so nice and you can tell that it is a big part of the community around it because while we were there a couple of people came to donate things that the shelter said it needed on the sign out infront of the building.. the dog area was just like that cat area.. each "cage" had an indoor and outdoor area for each dog.. these locks though You were had to get assistance for because it is a huge liablity for them if someone gets bitten or knocked over but over all the dogs seemed just as happy as the cats.. and the people there are amazing.. you can really tell that these people love what they do..
harvest hills is the only place I will adopt from.. westbrook is the biggest shit tank and doesn't even come close to how wonderful harvest hills is.. I recommend anyone to just go up there and look.. it's right on 302 about 1 1/2 to 2 miles away from the "little county" store or "little country" store some shit like that..
well I'm off to go see all three of my babies..
loves and be safe to all
