Been a while since I lasted posted something.
Holidays took up a lot of time. Spent Christmas in Cape Breton with my family, then returned to Halifax for three days to work. I managed to get off work early yesterday, so decided that since the weather was nice, I would leave for Cape Breton then. As soon as I got to Antigonish, the weather turned nasty, with snow and wind. It was odd, though, for when I got to Monastery, it stopped. Roads were clear until Port Hawkesbury, when it turned nasty again. I took the roads slow, got past Rita's Restaurant in Big Pond. At this point, I was glad, thinking that there were only 45 minutes left of driving. This is when I hit an icy patch on the road, spun and landed upside down in a ditch.
I'm okay. The gentleman in the house across the street saw it all, and came over immediately to see if I was okay. I got myself out of my seat belt (had a little bit of trouble there), called to Mackie (had him in his carrier, belted into the back seat - he's fine) and that's when shock and adrenaline set in. Couldn't find my cell phone. The lady of the house had one, called my dad, let me talk to him, then took me over to their house. Ambulance came for me, took me to Cape Breton General, where I waited for three hours to be told that my injuries were minor - soft tissue damage along the shoulders, which will result in lots of pain for the next few days. This I can account for...
Staying with my parents for the weekend, then Michael will drive me back to Halifax on Monday before he heads home to Moncton.
Time for some more Extra Strength Advil.
