Vash thought he could bear the extreme temperature. Unfortunately, he was wrong. His whole body quivered, and he couldn't feel anything anymore. He looked at the Canadian who was enjoying making the snowman. How could he still enjoy in this horrendous winter?
He tried to straighten his back, but his body was too numb to move. He wanted to say to his friend to stop making a stupid snowman. But, he kept it to himself because it seemed like his friend was having fun.
“So, Matthew....” he said. Man....his voice sounded weird. “...why in the world would you want to make a snowman?” This is so childish, for pete's sake!
Matthew stopped for a moment; he glanced at the Swiss and gave him a smile. “There are two reasons.” Vash wanted to roll his eyes.
Matthew took a step forward. “Firstly, because I have never made a snowman in my entire life.”
Vash raised his eyebrow. “Never?”
Matthew nodded as he took another step forward to him. Then he looked at the night sky filled with countless stars. “Everyone was really busy and I had no one to play with me outside. I could only play outside when someone in my family could play with me.” he said with a tone of sadness. Vash fell silent for a moment. Who knew the sweet and loving Canadian he knew never had played in snow?
Matthew took another step. He was so close to Vash and the Swiss could feel the hot breath on his pale skin. Wait...
“What's the second reason?” he asked. A huge smile crept across Matthew's face, making Vash confused.
“I knew you ask that. This is the second reason.”
Vash was going to say something, but was interrupted when Matthew suddenly kissed him. Vash was surprised, but he didn't mind. He love how those warm lips pressed against his cold ones. He could feel his face burning up. Man...that was the thing he needed. Warmth. Their kiss lasted for a few seconds and somehow Vash wanted more.
He looked at Matthew once more. His smile didn't fade. He wanted to say something, but words failed him.
“Oh Vash! You're cold.” A hint of concern was all over Matthew.
“You took a long time to figure it out.” He said; his face has a blank expression.
Matthew chuckled. He held his pale, cold hand and guided him to his house. “Let's go inside. Let me give you some warm clothes and cocoa.”
Vash smiled a little. “That would be highly appreciated.”
Once Vash was all warmed up, he insisted that Matthew go outside and that they finish the snowman together. The Canadian looked perplexed at first, but he smiled and nodded. They enjoyed making them. There was happiness and laughter. For Vash, it was the best Christmas he ever had.
