"I think it’s time she says
For the fight to be over
For all strength to be released
And tomorrow to arise
Dead. Lonely. Awake but asleep
Drowsy messages sent into a bottle of fate
I love you’s. And you’ll love me’s
Sent to a distant land filled with hopes and dreams
But she reminds me of reality,
It’s only that sort of love that means nothing.
I guess I reminisce of days I thought were happy.
Once upon a time, I think,
In a land far, far away,
there it all was,
all wrapped up in the visions I used to have,
So real I could taste them. Touch them. Live them.
She reminds me again, that those were not real.
But what were they?
Just the hopes and doubts of your soul, she says
They were sailing through your reveries
Saving you from reality
Of course, I know she’s right.
As time goes on I can feel those aspirations drifting away,
Lost forever from my destiny.
But still, I feel their importance in my life,
And I can see them.
The assistants who came to my side.
Mermaids with pink shells and red eyes
Blushed cheeks and modest lips
True definitions of femininity yet so beyond man
I would pray that they lead my heart to the kingdom itself
Please, you wild creatures of the sea
Work quickly through the muck and darkness
bring my treasure to the very thrown of my salvation
and drown my fear into the depths of nothingness.
She says I made them up. She says I dreamt of heroines larger than life.
Larger than my life.
That I wanted to be them, and never be me.
