Caroline is a vampire! And in The Vampire Diaries that means she possesses:
→ SUPER STRENGTH. Vampires are abnormally strong, and only get stronger with age.
→ SUPER SPEED. Vampires can run, jump, and, in general, just move incredibly fast. Damon Salvatore, another vampire, says that he can, "Snap your neck before you could blink," on more than one occasion.
→ SUPER HEALING. If you manage to cut or wound a vampire, they will bleed, but only for a moment. Their super healing kicks in immediately after injury.
→ ENHANCED SENSES. Vampires can see better--farther and in greater detail than humans. They also have excellent night vision. They can hear whispered conversations, even ones great distances away, and pick up on the scent of blood easily.
→ IMMORTALITY. Vampires don't die of natural causes, or grow old.
→ EMOTIONAL CONTROL. If a vampire so chooses, they can shut off their emotions, including fear, like flipping a switch.
→ COMPULSION. A special form of vampire mind control, it requires eye contact.
→ WEAKNESSES ← Because of all these abilities, there are very few ways to hurt, and even less ways, to kill a vampire. TVD vampires' weaknesses include:
→ SUNLIGHT. Vampires burn in the sun unless they have a special Daylight Ring. If a vampire is in the sun too long (a minute or two would do it), they will burn and die.
→ FIRE. Along the same lines as sunlight, vampires are weak to fire. Prolonged exposure to flames will kill them.
→ VERVAIN. A special herb that is poison to vampires. When ingested, it makes a vampire feel weak and feverish. It also burns them if it comes into contact with their skin. Immunity to it can be built up over time, however.
→ MAGIC. TVD witches have the ability to rupture a vampire's blood vessels and induce paralyzing headaches.
→ WOOD. Wood weapons, such as stakes, can severely injure and weaken a vampire. A stake to the heart is lethal.
→ HEART EXTRACTION. If you remove a vampire's heart, they will die.
→ DECAPITATION. Likewise, the removal of a vampire's head will also kill them.
→ WEREWOLVES. A werewolf bite is lethal to vampires. One bite, however small, will poison a vampire, inducing a slow and painful death. The only cure is a the blood of a hybrid (known hybrids include: Tyler Lockwood and Klaus).
