It's Festivids time -- a major vidder holiday! -- and this year there were a whopping 205 vids posted for the exchange. I've only watched through maybe half, and in no particular order -- I'm kind of clicking around at random -- so my recs will be entirely subjective and probably leave off tons of awesome vids.
Go check them all out! This year I received two amazing Sleepy Hollow vids,
The Way Things Are and
Helpless. The first is a fantastic, insightful character study of Jenny Mills (and is officially Orlando-Jones-approved and Lyndie-Greenwood-retweeted! Oh, fourth wall, we will miss you), and the second is a gorgeous look at Ichabod Crane and the connections he's forged with Katrina and Abbie (omg Abbie!) in the face of all manner of evil and coffeemakers. Season finale spoilers contained in both, so make sure you're caught up or don't care! There were several other Sleepy Hollow vids in Festivids this year, too, and they're all great though these two are obviously the best because they're for ME.
Some other vids that have randomly caught my eye (and my 'replay' button):
All We Got (The Great Gatsby) -- This might be one of those "the vid is so awesome that you don't have to see the movie because it wouldn't be as good" kind of vids. Unless the movie is just a two-hour version of the vid, cause I'd definitely be down for that. So bright and sparkly and DOOM.
Find My Way (Carnivàle) -- Such a cool integration of character study (Jonesy!) with general show mythos and imagery.
Finished Symphony (Blue Planet) -- I was lucky enough to watch this vid for the first time on a TV screen and I'd love to see it even bigger... everyone in the room kept going "ooh!" at all the swirling fish and beautiful musicality.
Oh No (Purple Rain) -- Okay, yes, this vid is awesome, and not only do I now understand why folks find Prince attractive, suddenly I'm all emotionally invested in the story taking place off-stage.
Satan, Your Kingdom Must Come Down (Top of the Lake) -- I haven't seen this source, but the vid is super eerie and tells a mesmerizing story all on its own.
Teardrop (Hard Candy) -- YES. The vid I have always wanted for this movie. Chilling and gorgeous, with a fantastic build.
Toxic (The Red Shoes) -- This is so awesomely-edited and PRETTY. Also, I never want to be a ballerina.
We are Having a Hootenany Now (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) -- Lovely warm feelings and sitcom hijinks!
Wherever You Will Go (Wallace & Gromit) -- The love of a good dog. I am having a whole ton of claymation emotions.
(That's all for now, but I reserve the right to make a second recs post later, after I've watched more of the vids! VIDS. ALL THE VIDS.)
