I meant to corner you at the convention and tell you how much I enjoyed this vid. As a fellow Carnivale devotee, I was delighted to see the story from Ben's side. I think you truly brought out his struggle to understand who he is and *why* he is. It was a gorgeous vid and I am so, so glad you made it.
Since this was first announced as one of the videos coming out of VVC this year I have been waiting patiently to see it. I am not disappointed. The vid is just so mesmerizing! It’s very powerful and a great look into Ben’s journey. It’s going to be on my replay list for some time, I can tell you that now. It’s already sitting in my “fav” folder pleading at me to watch it again. *g*
The pace of this video was just perfect and reflected the song well. And the song, what a song! I’ve never heard it before now but it’s just the most beautiful thing that I’ve heard in a while and a great choice for Carnivàle (the tinkling sound in the background just sounds like a fairground to me). Because I love the song so much (thanks to you) I have made a note to listen to more of Yann Tiersen’s music.
I must end this by saying bravo! Thank you for sharing this great video.
Yay, thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it, and that you heard that fairground-esque sound in the song as well. That's what made me think "Carnivale" for the song to begin with. :)
And yes, Yann Tiersen is fabulous; among other things, he did the soundtrack for the movie Amelie. And although the music in "Monochrome" is all Yann Tiersen, the vocals were done by another French musician called Dominique A. You might want to check out his music as well. He's got a different musical style than Yann Tiersen, but a great voice.
oh, wow. i don't know anything about carnival, but this was gorgeous. the first half of the vid made me want to cry, and the second half was just stunning.
Because of this vid, I am going to *have* to watch the show. I absolutely need to be able to fully understand it, because it's just that wonderful. Chills. Still. Every time. :} And I showed it to Gerry and he thought it was great too and completely echoed my need to see the show now. ;D
