So, while Takanari went to bat for Dietrich and makes friends with Belphegor, I figure it's about time to explain how Takanari manages to befriends and defends rapists. . .

Takanari has all of two people that he will defend to the best of his ability, which isn't something he is sure that he is capable of doing, but, more importantly, he will accept for whatever they do: Haine and Touya. Now, Takanari loves Haine, and will always trust in whatever judgment calls she makes. Which isn't bad, because she is a jesus heroine in a shoujo series! This can not go wrong! However, Touya is the objectionable party. Within the manga, Touya manipulates Haine, drowns her, then shoots her! And he does this all for Takanari's sake! Surely, Takanari would not continue to trust in this psychopath who keeps putting the person Takanari loves in danger, though.

. . . LOL! No, Takanari is always very aware of what Touya is doing. Let me paraphrase this:

* Touya pushes Haine into the pool!
* Haine ... drowns!
Touya > OH SHIT TAKANARI-SAMA HAINE IS DROWNING
Takanari > Really?
* Takanari saves Haine! ... Takanari mouth-rapes Haine!
* Maora busts up the party. :(
Takanari > And Touya? It's cool. I've got this. You don't need to drown Haine. Thanks.
Touya > . . . kay

Takanari doesn't even get mad or anything. He understands that Touya is horribly and terribly retarded! He has been since he was a kid! And Takanari will never reprimand him for his doing what he thinks is right, even if Touya almost kills Haine twice. Without fail, Takanari will always accept Touya without pushing him away. Takanari understands that he is everything to Touya, so he can't do things like that without hurting him a lot.

Now, how does this relate to how Takanari deals with other rapists? Well. . . He's always willing to consider the other side! He won't approve of what they do unconditionally, unless they are in his limited inner circle, but Takanari will understand why they are being how they are. . . Even if it's just them being them with no reason. This is why Takanari accepts Shizumasa! Takanari understands what he means to his brother while knowing just how much Shizumasa being who he is broke Takanari down. The biggest conflict Takanari is having with himself lately is whether he should reprimand Shizumasa for what he did-To place the fact that he was hurt over the fact that Shizumasa is just that way. So, Takanari is a bit of a doormat, but it lets him be able to consider the other side without too much trouble.

It also helps that Takanari has a lot of practice in laying dead, so to speak, with rapists. He knows not to give them what they want but not stand up against them, either. Takanari spent about ten years in close contact with Shizumasa and Touya, who are not stellar examples of being nice for the former and stable for the latter. He is able to deal with mindfuck which also helps with his being able to befriend rapists with little problem. :|b

Moving on to more recent developments, Joshua has very clearly gone off the wall! I've said before when addressing Setsuna and Joshua's relationship that while Joshua understands he's going to help bring about humanity's end. . . He does have some people he doesn't want to hurt anyway! If he kills them in the genocide, then that just sucks. But while he possesses some of his sanity and isn't helping destroy the world, Joshua would rather just lay low and not fight unless he has to. So, Joshua has always been especially, um, dere towards Setsuna, which is why Joshua being ready to full on kill Setsuna is a good sign that something is very wrong.

Except what is very wrong is that Joshua is so unbelievably happy that he will not tolerate anyone coming in the way of it. Mukuro gave Joshua an illusion of his sister! Which Joshua was very aware of that it wasn't the real thing at the time! But Joshua came to a realization that his life in camp is his life, so he can do whatever he pleases with it. So, Joshua decides to go to bat for Mukuro in exchange for an imitation of what Joshua has wanted for six years. However, as Joshua has been left alone to his own devices, he has forgotten more and more that this is an illusion. Joshua has always been suspceptible illusions and moreso distorting his world view to cater to what he wants! The whole story that he has concocted against Chrno is a testatment to that. It is easy for him to lose the idea that this isn't real too. He found Rosette in camp before, but she wasn't what he wanted or thought she was at all. He utterly rejected her as being his sister! Slowly but surely, he came to think that he might be wrong while Fiore told him to take his time and make sure he was right. By the time Rosette left, Joshua was pretty sure that she was his sister, but that something was wrong with her. She was saying things that he didn't want to hear and acting how he didn't remember her being.

So, when given an illusion that acts just how he thinks his sister is supposed to act, it's easier for Joshua to forget that it is an illusion. He has the sister he has always wanted-She is perfect. ( Here have a drabble that illustrates my headcanon except where Firo enabled incest. -No, the last paragraph has not happened in camp.) Naturally, Joshua has jumped to making sure that nothing separates them and just staying with her all the time. He doesn't need anyone or anything else. Joshua has the only thing he has ever wanted, even since he was a kid.

If you think this will end badly and in blood, then you are right.

As an aside! The anime had Joshua come to think that Fiore was his sister. I have never been quite okay with this. Fiore is Fiore! Joshua loves-Er, cares for her in his own way. He can't confuse her for someone else unless he was completely out of his mind. And he did once! But he knows her as a person, so he can't distort her like that. The reason why the illusion manages to do this when Fiore can't is, because it is meant to be his sister. He is allowed to push all of his desires on this illusion whereas Fiore is something else to him entirely. She keeps him sane, she cares for him, and she keeps him in line-Fiore does act like how he thinks his sister does, but she is her own person. . . This is really difficult to explain, but they are two different things, guys.

Now, for something a bit lighter! Haru commented on the issue of modesty, nudity, and so on in Sekirei before. I can't remember the exact phrase, or where it is, but there is a certain level of comfort in their skin that all the Sekirei possess! If they haven't learned to be ashamed of their body, then they don't really exhibit modesty.

Funnily enough, Karasuba has picked up on this behavior. She understands that humans are modest, get shy about showing skin, and so on. However, she doesn't abide by this mentality. Rather, Karasuba doesn't abide by any really human mentalities, despite operating within their rules to an extent. Karasuba is comfortable with herself, so she won't conform! She refuses to conform, because she has very special issues with humanity. So, Karasuba can lounge around in a bath with Natsuo looking on without being bothered! During Naked Day, Karasuba didn't change anything in her usual behavior, because she honestly didn't care. If people want to oogle her, then they're welcome to. Really, it amuses her to see people looking her up and down, because humans are funny! She is attractive, she knows it, and she enjoys seeing people just fall over themselves at any pretty thing.

. . . Yeah, that's all I've got to say.
