I had my first dance class yesterday. It's fun. However, it was supposed to be a "modern jazz" class, had the teacher they hired showed up. Instead, since the British lady couldn't get a work visa and is still in the UK (or something like that) we have another, awesome as she is, woman teaching the class who doesn't really know what we're supposed to be doing. So, she's allowed the giggly blond girls to turn it into a "hip-hop" class.
I can already tell by my ineptitude that I would ahve much preferred a jazz class, but at least the warm ups and sit ups are going to be great for my body. I even got to order those cute jazz sneakers (chosen for their orthopedic effectiveness) and some new dance pants, since I discovered yesterday that baggy and too long sweatpants do not make for more efficient dancing styles. And I need all the help I can get.
Today was day 2 of the internship. I enjoyed it a lot more today and I got to do my first phone interview and my first press release. My first real press release. Rebecca, one of the associates, proofed it that afternoon and told me it was "very good" for my first try and that my only mistakes were a few minor AP style mistakes. I'll have those cleared up as soon as I get my hands on the recent edition of the associated press style book, which I also need for Kirk's class.
Speaking of classes, from an academic perspective, I started PR2 yesterday. It's going to be a heavy PR writing course, but it'll only help me through my internship.
And since one thing seems to be leading to another here, it's time for a Disney Internship update. The presentation schedule was finalized online, but there are no presentations near here or home that are not specifically for culinary students so tonight I watched the e-presentation. I must say I was impressed with Disney's video on world domination, excuse me, on the reach of their corporation, and the fast paced chreography of clips set to the theme of Pirates of the Caribbean (the movie, not the ride) just excited me more! So I've been trying to fill out the online application, which I can't really do now in the absence of printer cables (oh yes, I have the printer, but not the cables) and my plan for scheduling the phone interview tonight was a bust. I really hope that it was just a case of the operator leaving work early and that my constant redialing and trying to get a hold of someone won't conitnue monday.
Well, that's a sufficiently long and detailed entry, the likes of which we haven't seen in quite a while. I will end with a short survey as tagged by Shawn. Sorry people, I won't be tagging anyone else, but don't take it personally.
