Metropolitan Museum: Kingdom of Characters

Aug 25, 2011 23:08

We went to Metropolitan to see an exhibit and to listen to a speaker talking about characters. The event was called Japan Kingdom of Characters. I can say that the talk was interesting but one of my problems was that the time- siesta. I can relate to the topic and was amazed because I learned something new but I bet those who do not have interest in anime can't appreciate it fully but at least they earned something.

Me(with red jacket) and some friends in Museong Pambata

The speaker talked about terminologies and some culture of Japan. He also talked about what makes up a character and their purposes. He also used animes that many know so that many could understand somehow. There are also a lot of schools attended.

Anyway, about the bisa,.. one of the paintings or art that caught my eyes is this one

This work is about prince Bantugan that asked helped from the faeries. I like the colors here and how it was drawn. I was fascinated because maybe my midium is also colored pencil. I really loved it also the drapery of the cloth.

The second one is this

Many like this one. It's just simple yet beautiful. Charcol is very hard to use and it's really amazing how the artist mixed it with colored pencil.

Sadly I don't have a third picture since I did not take a picture of that work. All the picture here are from Kimberly Mas and the picture is from my sister's blockmate.

I like going to exhibits and "conferences" because it inspires me and I'm learning new things. Someday I want to see my works in an exhibit.

By the way, one of my classmates and I went to the museum and it's so epicly cool. Just saying.
