HARTDS1: Trip to National Museum by Andrea Nhel Ferrer

Jun 24, 2011 13:54

Last Saturday my friends and I went to the National Museum to learn, enjoy, and appreciate art.

The National Museum is a big place though we almost got lost in finding it. When we reached the place, we have to wait for more than an hour to complete our group. We took pictures while waiting and there are beautiful pillars in the lobby.

The Spoliarium is in the middle of a room.

Me in front of the very big and amazing Spoliarium by Juan Luna

When I saw the Spoilarium, I was really amazed by it's beaut and history. I told myself that "this was made by Juan Luna, by Juan Luna!!" I was really inspired because painting a very big picture was very hard. And for me, the paintings and art before were more meaningful.

I forgot the title of this painting but I know it's about the assassination of a general

 painting of a dead child

a mini sculpture made by Dr. Jose Rizal. The Vengeance of a Mother. It's sculpture of an angry mother dog biting a crocodile who's biting her pup. Awww... very sad and touching.

The unfinished painting of Fernando Amorsolo.

 Juan Luna's works :)

 Hello Juan Luna :D

Wooo~ IDOL! :D we're your fans :D

 :D

and after touring around we got really tired

 yeah, very tired :))

and lastly:

I almost forgot to post this. The Massacre of a Family. I think that's the title. It's so sad but really beautiful.

The day end very tiring but a really nice experience. I know there are a lot of great Filipino artists out there and I've been dreaming to be one of them.  Through art, many people can express themselves and that's what Juan Luna and the others did. They tell history through there work. I felt the importance of art and the beauty it makes in our history.

I want to visit the National Museum for some other time with my family. I'm hoping that I will see more paintings and works the next time I visit that place again. I sure did enjoy the experience :).
