Silent Whispers Part Three: Investigations

*warnings....ehh, blah blah, pics that refuse to center*

I knew for a fact that I was being followed. I managed to lose them, but I was still afraid. Was someone already on to me? After waiting for about ten minutes I felt that it was alright if I went home. The last thing I needed was for someone to follow me back to where I live.

“Someone was following you?” “Yes. I’m sure of it. You didn’t say anything to anyone did you Tyler?” “No I swear I didn’t. Maybe it’s time you mention all of this to the police. We both know that Sasha was killed and you even found a witness. That’s plenty of information!” Although she did have a point, I still couldn’t say something. I needed more. It was up to me to solve this murder. “I can’t Tyler, not yet.” She sighed knowing that my mind was made and wasn’t about to change. Today was a new day and I still had a lot of work to do.

“An article on me? That’s something I can never turn down!” Dr. Malchovich beamed. I had only been at his office for ten minutes and was ready to leave. He was arrogant, rude, and purely stuck up. Keeping my thoughts to myself I continued to pump him up with false praise. It was important that I got as much information about him as possible without being obvious about my real motive. I gave him the story that I was a journalist major, which is true, and that I was writing an article  for the schools paper praising our “excellent” medical offices, which was a lie.

He was too arrogant to not believe what I had told him. “I’ve worked directly with the police department for about ten years now. With my help they’ve been able to crack hundreds of cases.” I nodded and wrote his nonsense on my note pad. “So you’ve solved many cases? What’s the most bizarre autopsy you’ve performed? Have you ever worked a case where someone appeared to have committed suicide, but had actually been killed?”I blurted without thinking. "Way to go. You're doing a fine job NOT being suspicious, Embry'  “Well that’s a rather odd thing to ask Ms Summers.” He addressed me by the false last name I gave him.

I laughed it off, “Oh, I just got excited. I have a tendency of asking odd and sometimes bold questions. You have to be like that in my field.” “Hmm. So I see. Well let’s continue with the interview.”

I felt stupid for talking to the doctor. I never learned a thing from. One problem I always had even when I was a kid was that I just acted. I never sat and thought things through before doing it. Sasha was my thinker. With her gone I couldn’t come up with well thought plans that would get me somewhere.

“Embry? What are you doing here?” I bumped into Tyler as she was heading in for work. “I met with your boss. If he mentions me my name is Elizabeth Summer. I told him I was writing a paper about him.” And once again another plan came to mind “Tonight you and I have some work to do.” “We do?” she looked at me confused.  “Yep, tonight we’re breaking into his office.”
..............................................................................................................................................................................................................

“Oh God! Oh God! How did I let you talk me into this?!” Tyler loudly whispered as she made sure no one was coming in our direction. Something I learned from Evan back in high school was how to pick locks. It was during our “rebel” days. “Got it, remind me to blow Evan’s mind when I see him!” I celebrated as I opened the door.

“Um, no. Let’s hurry I’m not trying to get arrested.”  “Quit worrying! Besides, if we do get caught we can just tell the real reason why we’re here. Sasha's dad would have our backs.” “Oh you just think of everything don’t you?” she snorted. I laughed and started to search around the small office making sure not to move anything around.

“So Embry, what exactly are we looking for?” “I don’t know…anything that would suggest he had something to do with Sasha.” “Wait, so you’re telling me that we just broke into a man’s office and we don’t even know what we’re searching for?” “That pretty much sums it up.” She mumbled a few words under her breath and moved around the room. I had to admit to myself that I was being stupid and not thinking straight. I wasn’t even sure what to look for.

“Embry! Come here!” Tyler excitedly called out to me. I walked over to where she was standing and looked over her shoulder to see what she was staring at. “What is it?” “Looks like a receipt or something. Seems like the good Dr. received a very large amount of money recently. This aint no M.E salary either.” She wasn’t lying. Someone had paid him $750,000. “Now why would a person pay that kind of money?” She turned and looked at me. “To cover up a murder I bet.” I took a picture of the document so we would have some proof. “There’s bound to be more around here”

Just then I heard the unmistakably sound of shoes walking across the linoleum floor outside the office. Tyler heard it too and snapped her head in the direction of the door. “Crap! Crap! Crap! What are we going to do Embry? We’re going to get caught!” “Shh! No we aren’t. Look!” I pointed at another door. “Maybe that’s a closet. We can hide in there.” We both moved as quickly as we could, making little noise and stuffed inside the closet.

“This is rather strange. I’m certain I locked my door. Probably the cleaning lady, If she tampered with anything I swear-““Dr, I haven’t got all night. Will you please grab the papers and move on.” Someone, more specifically a woman irritably said. “Yes, right. Just want to check one more thing.” Though his footsteps were muffled on the carpeted floor, I could tell he was getting closer to where Tyler and I were hiding. Very slowly he started to twist the knob and I knew it was all over.
