Today on my way to Mila's swim class I was about two blocks away from home on the bigger connecting street for our neighborhood when I noticed a small shoe laying in the middle of the road, several car-lengths ahead of me. Normally it's a pretty busy street but it was after the early morning school/work rush and things were quiet. As I approached the shoe I thought about how Leif's bus attendant mentioned that he had been trying to throw his shoes out the window lately and then as I passed the shoe I slowed down to get a better look.
Sure enough, it was one of Leif's shoes laying right there in the middle of the street. I pulled over and ran out to pick it up and I called Rob to tell him about it. Apparently this shoe has been missing for *4 days* and Rob just assumed that it was somewhere around the house and he just couldn't find it. So at some point late last week or over the weekend Leif pitched his shoe out the car or schoolbus window unnoticed and it's just been laying in the middle of the road ever since. It's a good thing I saw it there, those shoes will probably fit him for another 6 months at least and they weren't cheap.
