I am the co-chair of the parents' group at Leif's school. Tonight we have our second meeting and I just spent the last hour or so translating everything that I want to talk about in the meeting into Spanish. Over half of the parents who showed up to the last meeting didn't speak any English at all, so I thought for this meeting I would try to reach out a little. There is a translator who comes to the meetings as well but I think if I can use some Spanish it might help those other parents feel more included.
I have not conjugated verbs in Spanish in a very long time (~10 years?) and I have a feeling that my little vignettes are going to be kind of weird. Practique hablando en espanol todo el dia con mi bebe. The only time I ever speak in Spanish is when I'm totally drunk. Then it's easy to just run my mouth and not care if I'm using the right words. Once at La Bamba I had a drunken, Spanish, hour-long conversation with some guy from Mexico.
Mila is going to start crawling any day now. She can already scoot around and get to where she wants to be by rolling and sort of dragging herself across the floor. Today she was getting up into a little tripod formation with her butt in the air. I think she might be teething too - she's obsessed with chewing on things (more than usual) and she's been waking up at night again.
