So Be It.

Wow, well, went in again to Evangel, the private school which I am officially hired.  Things are crazy right now for the administration and the kids.  It's finals and Regents week for the kids.  The Regents is a state test all New York high school students have to take.  They're not terribly hard, but just like the SAT's, u need proper preparation.  Also, the principal, Caroline Marko, who I absolutely adore and respect after just two short days, is in a rut because two teachers left---one got fired and the other quit.  Also, the teacher which I am going to be co-teaching English with, Mariette, is really stressed because before all the hires and fires of these past month, she was helping Caroline with discipline problems and other paperwork, but now since they need help with English teachers, she's taken away from Caroline and now Caroline needs someone to help her.  They hired a man recently to assist Caroline, but Mariette is stressed because she has to train him, teach US History and English.  Caroline told me that Mariette was excited to have me here and that she liked me off the bat, so things should be going smoothly.

I'm getting paid $13 an hour!!!!! How cool is that?! That's the most I have ever gotten paid!  I am so grateful for this!  As Caroline and Mariette told me more about the job, I was overwhelmed again because it seems like so much has to go into these Enlgish classes because the students need to pass the Regents.  But, at the same time, I have so many resources at my disposal: overheads, tv, vcr, dvd player, computer and other things I didnt have at the other Christian school I worked at for an obscene amount of years back in the day.  Also, I know I am going to be working crazy hours too because Caroline might need me to sub for other teachers during the year.  Overall, it's a challenge I am up for.  After like the first week or so, I should be more set in and get a better feel of how things run.  I get overwhelmed for like two minutes, then I relax and get over it.

This weekend, I have three hot, steamy dates with Hamlet, Oliver Twist and Les Miserables.  Let the show begin.
