Today I went to Kinko's for the first time in my life. I was a lil nervous, but a nice lady name Keisha helped me out. I didnt know u could fax, scan, copy, e-mail and Fed-Ex there. Pretty cool. Sent out my resume to two jobs: one for the position as a study guide freelance writer for Spark Notes, the other for an editorial assistant job; also sent out my resume to a five star hotel in the Village here in New York. I have a good feeling about these three. Keep ur fingers crossed guys!
Ok, will someone tell me why every time that I go outside, something funny, weird or crazy happens. Today, I was on the train on my way to Kinko's, minding my own business, reading my book (Dan Brown's "The Da Vinci" code). The train is crowded and my stop is like 10 minutes away. Some black guy comes on and starts to talk to us, talking about how he doesnt like to see people unhappy, and himself most of all; so guess what he decides to do: SING TO US! I'm like, Oh Lord. Usually, if there is someone on the train trying to talk to people (which in NYC there are plenty), the unspoken rule that all of us New Yorkers know is to NOT make eye contact! So the guy becomes spiritual and starts singing about how Jesus is the only way and that with him, he'll never let u down. Ok, fine, he can sing. I'll give him that much.
But something tells me this dude is my three sh's (invented it myself): shady, shifty, shiesty. Well, I was right, because after he sung, he slyly slipped in the fact that he was also homeless, and GET THIS, that he just became homeless TODAY and that he would appreciate any "contributions" anyone was willing to offer. He made eye contact with me for about three seconds, but I quickly reengulfed myself in the book. So much for there not being a catch!
