Last night I worked traffic control for the opening night of mother courager and her children. Which means I stood there before the show and held people back when photographers needed to take pictures of people like ethan hawke (dirty, gross man....i'm glad uma left him, and he was there with a trashy looking chick), liev schrieber (apparently a jerk, but when i saw him he was cute and gentlemanly, and very tall), and calvin klein (skinnnnnny). So I got jostled a lot, and had on what just might be my favorite dress in the whole wide world...very audrey. My mom actually found it, but i was in love. Then after the show I had to do almost the same thing for people going into the afterparty, although this time I helped set up the pen and the posters they were using as a drop...lol and they asked me to pose in front of it so the photographers could all test their shots. So I felt like a movie star for a full five minutes. And then I had to guide the actors up and down the stairs so if they fell on the stone steps I would be the one to die and not them (that's basically the gist of what I was told). And Meryl almost ran into me...which just shows how tired she must have been since I was not in her way at all. I just can't imagine being her.
SO that was cool, though crazy, and then I went to the party at belvedere castle for a few minutes but could hardly move it was so packed. But such a cool cool place to have it...it was a nice night and you could see the new york skyline and were standing on a castle with meryl streep somewhere in the vicinity. quite surreal. and i saw most of the marketing and box office kids and was happy, because theyre such nice and interesting people. i didnt see mos def though, which made me sad b/c i think hes adorable and apparently he was coming. ah well.
Yeah, it was kind of a crazy night, though only when I think about it. lol while I was there it was just kinda chaotic, and I was too busy trying to figure out what the hell I was supposed to be doing to spend much time being starstruck. But I really hope I can keep working at the public a bit, because it really is such a sweet place.
oh yes, and apparently natalie portman came to see the show the other night. they (the box office and marketing and press people) call her the hershlag (her real name) and think shes snobby and pretentious. so i'm not the only one in the world who doesn't really like her, and i now feel a little less alone.
and in other discoveries, elyse and i found STRONGBOW on TAP in NYC. if anyone's interested, let me know, and we will go there. tay and i will start our search for blackthorn sometime in the fall, and will keep you updated on our progress.
