Kelli evacuated Friday from her home in Splendora TX. She drove to her mother's in Bryan, and they both evacuated from there also. Kelli packed a suitcase of expensive electronics and irreplaceable memories.
It was a good thing she left. If you look at maps of the path of the eye, you can follow Interstate 59 north out of Houston, you will see that the eye crosses interstate 59 in Splendora. The eye of the storm went right through Kelli's current hometown, getting up to 74+ mph winds (119+kph).
Kelli will be going home to Splendora sometime on Sunday, and I know that I will be checking in with her everyday, and I will try to post on her behalf. I hope that she can take pictures. Kelli works as a Ranger at Lake Livingston State Park, north of Splendora on I-59. She has not heard from her boss at work about Park property yet. She said yesterday that she expected flooding (from rain) and downed trees. You can find the park on the southeastern end of the lake. Splendora is halfway between Houston and Lake Livingston State Park.
