my swiss roommate thinks it's crazy that i would ideally like to be married by 28 and i told her that i'm being generous with myself because in Canada ppl start looking for there soul mates in 3rd year, after all the random fucking is out of their system. atleast that's the impression i get. but in switzerland and all those nordic countries under 30 and married is considered young.
I started noticing the pressure to find a serious long-term mate in third year when the BBA guys started going out with girls I couldnt picture them with otherwise...it's like they decided to cling onto the first girl that said "yes" to dinner, just to have someone.
In some ways I find this really cute, we really do have old-fashioned family values in Canada compared to Western Europe and that makes me LOVE Canada even more but seriously ladies, what's the rush? We all should live for ourselves and pursure what WE want first before we devote ourselves to our men (and all the obligations that comes from these "old-fashion" values).
*Sigh* I'm now remembering the cottage weekend with him and his friends and their girlfriends. When it was time to prepare the meals it was us girls in the kitchen while the boys smoked pot and drank beer on the balcony. I dont mind being a domestic goddess (most canadian white boys look for a girlfriend to replace their mothers it seems) but just. not. now.
If by chance I decide to stay in Europe for 7 more months, I would not be surprised to find him engaged to or living with someone. Yes, guys are like that in Canada. The educated and amibitious ones it seems.
