I think it's safe to say we have interest. *OMGFLAILEEEEEEE* I mean, that's pretty cool. I guess. (Dignity, Lithy. Always dignity.)
*cough*
What I've done is put the auction into the new system
over here and, as you'll see from the dates, given a really long lead in. That's basically to allow me to make code changes and fixes before we actually do anything, and for you guys to make suggestions about functionality if you've an urge to.
Although it will look eerily familiar, the new auction base is actually very different to the old one. In part because it waswritten to be more generic and less SC-centric and in part because I've ripped it back to the absolute basics to try and keep it as light on the server as possible.
Which is ironic, because it's currently on the best server we've ever been with and could actually cope with more complex stuff *facepalm*.
ANYWAY.
Many of the little changes you'll see for yourselves and others I'll detail later, I'll just cover the most immediately important here.
1. The For Sale and Auction page have sort of combined into
something not quite either. Both viewing offers and bidding are done on the individual Tarts pages, there's no big long auction page. I realise this will be less convenient for some, but it's massively kinder to the server and bookmarks are wonderful things.
2. You can now bring up listings by category and tag, and all the tags are right there to see in a cloud. It's an "OR" search, not an "AND". For those who speak Boolean.
3. Close of bidding is now staggered over three days - that does mean some categories have more time than others and I may date tweak as we get closer to it, but whatever the dates do end up being, they'll be different. Is what I'm saying.
4. If you had an SC account before, you still have an SC account and can log in as directed on the "How do I log in?" bit on the front page, which you'll be able to tie to an OpenID soon. If you didn't have an SC account, you can just put your OpenID in at the top and you're set.
There's an experimental OpenID thing on the form when adding items to the auction, the emphasis is on experimental -- it does work in Firefox, other browsers are being capricious.
Finally, I've opened up the facility to
add items to the auction as part of the bug busting push. If anyone would like to help me out by adding their them and letting me know any problems they run into, they would be extra shiny.
(This is not a big pimp sign up thing, just a quiet beta test, although the sign ups will be kept. Later there may be a fake auction period, though, just to make sure everything is working as it should before we go for real.)
So, yeeeeah. HI GUYS \o/ *CLINGS* Thank you so much for taking part again, I told RAINN and they were thrilled - there were CAPS. If you have any site thoughts / need tags / find bugs let me know!
