If you want to get seen quickly in the ER...

go in because you can't breath. That's what I did Friday night. I have been fighting a URI for a few days and it came to a head friday. I took a bath and when I got out I was having trouble breathing. Then I had to keep stopping while toweling off because I couldn't catch my breath. So I walked into the living room and told my mom that I needed her to take me to the ER. I went to get dressed and couldn't do it without stopping to catch up my breathing so mom helped me finish getting dressed. Then we were walking to the car and it got really bad. By the time I got to the car I could barely breath. My chest was on fire, my head started hurting and my fingers went tingly. I thought I was going to pass out and since my chest hurt so much it might have been nice to actually have done so. We live about 10 minutes from the hospital and I didn't think I was going to make it. I took my inhailer and didn't think it would help much since I didn't think I could inhale enough to help but eveidently you don't need much to help. My breathing let up quite quickly and by the time we got to the hospital I was breathing much better. It scared the hell outta me. I seriously thought I was going to die. So we got to the ER and right away I had about 3 people around me one taking a history, one giving me an injection of steriods, and another trying to listen to my chest and setting me up for a breathing treatment. All that being done I stayed for a little while longer and then they let me go.

My discharge instructions: take my nebulizer every 4 hours for two days. Take z-pack once a day for the next couple days. And Prednisone. Again. This is the third time this year that I have been on prednisone. I have had a bit of difficulty with the meds. I've had hot flashes, naseua, and heart burn. So I'm now also on prevacid to help with that. So that is me. Hope everyone else is doing better. I miss friends
