she whispered into his ear a surprise, and he frowned and said don't do it.
but she was farther from his words and farther from his grip.
and her knuckles were white and her skin red.
so she unraveled her hand and inside was something only she could see. only something she knew.
and she saw everyone else delicately holding theirs, but they were "blind" she thought.
they saw the faults and the wounds and she smiled because she knew the secret.
so she quietly, one by one, pulled away her fingers
and watched as her glory, her being, her world fell to the floor.
and she winced when she saw it shatter.
but she knew what he didn't.
she knew why she let it go.
and a sweet smile escaped and the others looked at her.
and they soon saw what she saw.
they learned what she was born with.
the secret she whispered.
