I picked up two workout dvds at target over the weekend. They were $7 each. One has a 52 min "bootcamp" workout, the other has four 10 min kickboxing workouts, each with a different emphasis. I think my goal will be to do each ten min workout this week and the 52 min one once over the weekend. I know, it's little, it's not enough, blah, blah, blah. But here's the thing, I usually start off with tons of energy and do great...for two, maybe three weeks and then I'm just too tired and don't want to do it anymore.
Thinking back to the last two times I lost a significant (10+ lbs) amount of weight, I started off small. With little short workouts. That 52 min workout may well get broken in half because I'm not sure I can do 52 min of a bootcamp workout right now.
Also, making a note to find and set up an appointment with a primary care doc to see about new asthma meds because it felt like mine was flaring up when I did the first ten min workout last night. I suspect asthma not because breathing in was difficult, but because it was hard to expel all the air I should have been. I read somewhere that's likely just exertion if it's difficult one way, but that if it's difficult both ways you should check for asthma and since I have a history of asthma, I'm betting it's asthma and I should breakdown and get a new inhaler.
But so I'm going to do the ten min workouts this week and next week, add five min of core work beforehand three days a week. I know, again, very little. But it has to be better than nothing. And I can easily add on, bit by bit. I think in the long run, I'm more likely to stick with that than trying to do a ton all at once and burning out.
So we'll see, hopefully this will be effective at improving my health.
