(no subject)
Well, this weekend was nice. I finally got some socializing in - went to church with Ruth, and basically hung out with Mike and Ru most of the afternoon. We made cookies and watched 'Soul Plane' (which, by the way, is a crappy movie- don't watch it).
The church Ruth took me to is different from the one we normally go to. One of Ru's friends, Craig, is involved with the church... It was pretty cool. It was a little overwhelming though - I went from a old, quiet, small church to a young, loud, boisterous, crazy church... I didn't quite realize how socially inept and phobic I was until I was surrounded by people that were the complete opposite.
But I think that I could use this type of thing - while it will take a lot of getting used to, it should help me to break out of my shell. And on top of it, I liked what the Pastor had to say. All in all, I think that the only real problem I had was the fact that politics seems to be a big part of the church - one of the ushers had a shirt on that said (in big bold letters) 'JOHN KERRY IS A PUNK' ... but hey, Ru and I were driving a car that had a Kerry sticker on it, and everyone is entitled to their own opinions... Again, more to get used to.
