My dear, I believe you're early!

Rachel and I were browsing through Barnes & Noble, and I drifted over to the fantasy section, to check and see if they had Rose Daughter, the sequel to Beauty. [They did!] Then I wandered over to the Anne Bishop books, to visit. My fingers drifted over the spines, and then suddenly I snatched my hand back as though burned, stepped back a couple of paces, and gasped loudly.

"WHAT?" Rachel asked, coming from the next aisle over. "What happened? Is there a spider or something?"

"No," I whispered. "No, no, no - you're not supposed to be here yet! I'm not ready. Nooo.." Then reverently I stepped forward and pulled a hardcover book from the shelf. "The Shadow Queen," I sighed.

Rachel looked at me in confusion. "What?"

"The Shadow Queen! The newest Black Jewels book! I didn't think it was supposed to even be out yet! Oh.. Oh, but I don't have enough money on my card!"

I meebled a little bit more to myself, cooing at the book in my hands, and Rachel, quickly deciding that appeasing the crazy woman was a good idea, and could save a lot of people a lot of damage. So she offered to lend me the money to pay the difference.

Clutching the book to my chest, I hurried to the cashier.

And that is how I came to have a copy of The Shadow Queen sitting on my bedside book stack, on top of Melusine, which I was reading before I found The Shadow Queen.. Now, I want to read The Shadow Queen immediately, but having started Melusine, I feel obligated to finish it first. Besides, it's rather involved, so I'm afraid if I take a break from it, I may forget something vital by the time I pick it back up again.

Dilemma... Finish Melusine first, or go straight to Shadow Queen?

books, the crazy is strong in this one
