Scholarships, baybeh!

Argh, I'm exhausted! I just spent two hours at an ACT prep class, enduring cramps the entire time. Not. Fun. And I have two more such classes to take, one tomorrow and one the day after. Today's class covered the English portion of the ACT, tomorrow's will cover math, and the next day is science. Most of the stuff today I already knew, but I'll admit there were some good test-taking strategies that I didn't know of before, some specific to the ACT itself. I have a feeling it will really help - and I'll take all the help I can get. If I do really well on this test, I could get a scholarship that amounts to five years of free college. That would be sweet.

The lecturer gave us candy too. There was a handfull of random candy on each table in the room when we walked in. I instantly began to covertly steal all the tootsie rolls, which were the closest thing to chocolate there, and my cramps were demanding chocolately goodness. I did try to leave some for the other people at my table, but... Well, it was just calling out to me, and they didn't seem interested anyway.

Along with the ACT, I also have two other tests coming up. The first is on Wednesday of this week, and it's for sophomores, but I'll likely have to take it anyway because I'm in both sophomore and junior English classes, and because the state I lived in last year didn't have the test, sooo I've never taken it. Pretty much it's a snapshot of how you'd do at the ACT if you took it right then - which will ultimately help me on the ACT [which I still need to find out the date of and sign up for!!]. Then, on Saturday of next week, I have the PSAT again, because last year I barely missed the score that would qualify me for the scholarship that test offers, and that was before I'd taken geometry. Now, with geometry under my belt and a good idea of what to expect, I have high hopes. It's all about scholarships, baby!

I'm definitely starting to get better at darkroom work -- today I managed to succeed in making a contact sheet [though it was a little bit too light] and a print of one of my photos [though it was way too light]. I would have made even more progress if everyone hadn't inexplicably dubbed me the person who knows what they're doing, and thus began directing all their questions and "help me!"'s at me. So I spend half the time trying to figure out what they're doing wrong, and I swear most of the time it's the same thing: their apertures are on like 65 instead of 8. I will throw something if the same thing happens tomorrow. Still, it is kinda fun being Queen of the Darkroom.

I now have a couple books lined up that I must read: "The Lovely Bones", "Peeps", and.. damn, I know there's another book on my list, but it's eluding me.. Urgh, I really must have a little notebook just for this sort of thing, to write down book recs in.

And now, to finish up for tonight, a good cause I'm helping promote:
