Much to do..

Today was a wonderful respite from the cold that's been relentlessly swirling around us for so long.. It was actually warm enough outside to walk around without a coat or even a jacket on. It was so nice.. My creative writing class was even held outside, and this Thursday we're planning on taking a trip to the Starbucks across the road during school hours.. My creative writing teacher is awesome. And slightly hot. And likes LOST. .......This could get very, very bad.

As I may or may not have mentioned before, Alice and I are in the process of making a podcast! We haven't actually done any recording beyond my little tests yet, but we're definitely getting close to that point! I think we know the sort of things we want to talk about on there and such, and I'm pretty sure I've got all the technical stuff down.. There was a brief struggle today with figuring out how to get sound bites from iTunes onto Audacity, but I prevailed in the end and am now fully prepared! I think right now our main problem is deciding on a name for it all.. For once I'm at a loss - usually titling things or naming things is one of my strong points. But I can't think of anything that could sufficiently describe the fabulous crazy conglomeration of insanity that is to come. This is going to bother me all night, you guys. Luckily, I've got loads of reading to do.. Gods, I think I have about five books on my reading list now..

1. Ship of Destiny - This is my leisure book for now... And it has been for a while too. Normally I sail [no pun intended] through books much faster than this, but... This book has been pretty slow. I started reading the trilogy because Robin Hobb, the author, wrote the Farseer Trilogy and the Tawny Man Trilogy, both of which I'm insanely in love with.. And the character from those two trilogies who is my main reason for loving them so [the Fool!] is also featured in this trilogy, though not nearly as much as I was hoping.. I don't know - it just seems to be going at a much slower pace than Farseer & Tawny Man did. Now I'm just determined to finish it so I have the whole set done and read..

2. Huck Finn - Reading it for English. Again. I read it for another English class before, and hated it with a fiery passion then as well. And now I'm being forced to slog through it again. Ugh - so much horrible grammar, so much horrible spelling.. I don't even have a strong opinion either way about Twain's usage of That Word, I just think the book should be banned because of the horrible mangling of the English language! And yes, I know, Twain wrote it that way on purpose because of diction and dialogue and blah blah blah, but I don't care! It still grates at my nerves!

3. Things Fall Apart - Reading this for History. No idea why, we never even freaking discuss it in class. Pretty boring so far, but you never know. I'm only about three chapters in.

4. Water for Elephants - Reading this for Book Club. I need to have it done by the end of February.. So I'd better get busy with finishing up all the other books if I want to have it read in time.

5. Impulse - I've been promising myself for a long time now that I would read one of Ellen Hopkins' books, in order to see what everyone's raving about, and Impulse is the one that's appealed to me most.. But it's only out in hardback, and every time I've looked for it in all the libraries here, it's always been checked out. Today I finally saw a copy in my school library, so naturally I had to snatch it up. Even though I have four other books on my list. I hear it's a quick read, though, since it's really spaced out and stuff, due to Hopkins' unique style.

Y'know.. Maybe instead of making lists and complaining.. I should actually be reading the chapters of Huck Finn and Things Fall Apart that are due tomorrow... Huh. Now there's an idea..
