Sydney 2009
Day #5
Day #5
19 December 2009
Sydney and Suburbs
The day started off we us getting up at 6 in the morning. Because we (my mother and dad) don't want to waste the day away. And that's why we had a Bridgeclimb at 8.15am. We took a cab down all the way from Pitt to Cumberland Street with an Asian cab driver! Heehee. Because we are Singaporeans therefore kiasu, we arrived there super early. At 7.20am.
Since we were too early, we decided to go explore. I didn't know such colourful birds fly into the city! Here it's either piegeons, crows, ,mynahs or sparrows :( Either black brown or gray.
Since we went to register at 7.45am, the guy asked if we wanted to go on the 7.55 climb. And yes we did! Turned out to be a good choice as it was the first climb of the day so we had the bridge to ourselves for 20mins.
Okay the
Bridgeclimb is basically a tourist attraction (although most Sydneysiders do it too) where people in groups of about 15 would wear ridiculous looking jumpsuits and climb the world famous Harbour Bridge along with an instructor and he'd give you a tour of the surroundings. We took the original tour and that lasted 3 and a half hours. Our group had 12 people I think and we were the only Asians. :( So our group had this mega bitchface German, very pretty, whose most recent expedition was to kayak around Australia. AUSTRALIA and her partner a pilot who's scared of heights. Next was a dude and his girlfriend from Perth who looked like Ashley Tisdale, a party of 3 middle aged ladies from Melbourne + daughter, and a couple who's taking a road trip through Australia from Brisbane or something like that and there's us. 2 azn kids from Singapore.
Our guy was this bald dude who'd only take one shot of us and not talk to us except to ask if we were okay. And he talked to the rest for agess. Maybe he thought we didn't speak much English. Oh well.
We climbed to the highest point of the Bridge and it wasn't tiring at all! Oh, we weren't allowed to bring anything up the climb so we couldn't take any photos. Thus making us buy the photos they take for us. Expensive!
See the ugly jumpsuits?! And that lady in front of me kept making me do things for her! Adjust her suit, give her her cap, adjust her earphones... >:( Oh and most of the time, I couldn't understand what the guide was talking about so I spaced out.
After another 20mins of changing, filling up forms and getting our stuff, we emerged!
It was about 11ey when we got out and so we made our way to Circular Quay. This is The Rocks markets. My ma didn't let me stop and see the stuff on sale as they walked around while we were climbing. She bought a brooch for herself and didn't buy anything for me! :( But from what I saw, it was pretty cool. Paintings, postcards, handmade soap... Like a high class pasar malam.
We got to Circular Quay and saw that there was a street performance. A contortionist! She fit herself into a small box. Freaky and at the end, she asked for donations of at least $10. No shame ah but she said any amount is fine just that if you want to give silver coins (<$1), then keep your money. Then my dad saw something and he wanted to go ride it.
He wanted to go on a
Downunder Jet! This coming from a man who doesn't go on roller coasters.
It did 360 spins and it was bumpy and fast. So awesome, a thrilling 35mins.
Haha, someones hand blocked Hol's face.
Now my mothers hand blocked my face! >:(
We all got wet. Hol had to change his shirt. Our skin was tight from the salt and my hair got wet but the wind dried it. IT was so tangled after that but i had volume! See my hair so nice. I should totally buy a sea salt spray or something.
We walked over to the Wharf to have lunch. We went to this place called Rossini. Ah the food was awesome but expensive! A meal with 4 dishes cost about 75AUD! So expensive! But the Tortrllini was to die for. I miss it!
After lunch we were going to the Bahá'i Temple. To get there, we needed to take a train and then some bus but we ended up calling a cab and the cab fare got to 40AUD. See, the Sydney trains are so cool. Double deck! And all seats! Our MRTs should totally change to that kind of carriages. So comfortable. And you can eat and drink in the trains! How cool is that and they weren't very dirty either!
Close to an hour later we reached. So pretty. The Sydney Bahá'i House of Worship.
Said a few prayers~
I'm wearing shorts okay. And this the 2 people are some nice people who volunteer there.
We then got a cab back to Gordon station and took the train all the way back to Town Hall. This is QVB. Where everything is mad expensive. It's like a Paragon. The only thing I got there were stuff ON SALE from Sportsgirl and a Country Road bag. Everyone there has a CR bag. So I had to get one. This was also the place where communitychannel filmed her
Your Soap Sucks video. Exciting! I wished I had bumped into her so I could make it onto her video.
This intersection had a scramble crossing. How fun! So we walked diagonally to Woolworths. That's like a Cold Storage. And their supermarkets are like 2x funner than the ones here.
From there we walked all the way back to Chinatown after having dinner at Ajisen Ramen and making a stop at a store to get Havis. FINALLY. They're not that cheap there either maybe just a few $$. We got our bubble tea! I ordered an Original Milk Tea and Hol, a Strawberry Milk Tea. It was soo good. Look at the amount of pearls we got! Oh, they were expensive too. 4.20AUD. Daylight robbery. S$1.80 each-a-cup is the best.
On the way back from Chinatown, we heard the coppers(aussie for police), ambo(aussie for ambulance!) and fire engine sirens and there were all headed to.. I don't know. But we saw smoke coming from somewhere so I guess that was where they were heading.
And that's the end of day #5. Oh. This day was a free day with an optional Blue Mountains Tour. We didn't go to the Blue Mountains as my parents didn't want to travel to see Rocks.
