I went there for Spring Break, and didn't find the language barrier to be particularly difficult to break through at all. And more ppl there speak English than I initially thought, or at least understand.

The language barrier is not a big issue, and I hate that people make such a big deal about it. -_- As you mentioned, a lot of people speak fairly decent English. I think that Americans just like to bitch a lot and make a huge deal about everything... or at least that's the impression I get from reading expat LJ's.

I never make too many plans when abroad, I just tend to wander & get lost, I plan to do that a lot when in Tokyo, I can't wait XD!!!

There are some areas of Tokyo that are fun to get lost and wander around it, but I'm afraid there are others that are very boring. D: Choose your place to get lost in wisely and fun shall ensue.

Thank god I never had the (DIS-)pleasure of being groped on the train. I was, thankfully, squished in between class mates and never sat too close to dirty old men (or young men).
LoL, well, just ...being a creepy person and leaving random comments on people's pages that I don't even know just because I think their posts are hilarious.
