First off, House is so amazingly gay, I cannot stand it. That is all. I need someone to squee with me over House, because squeeing by myself is no fun. Though, by now, Dear Sister has now come to terms with my love of slash and has learnt to just smile and nod when I make high pitched noises in my seat.
I've had a good couple of weeks and I had meant to post something earlier but I've had work stuff to do at home for the past week.
Sarah King and I decided to explore Newtown the other week, as an attempt to go to places other than the Sydney CBD. It was fun, even though it was kind of wet and rainy. We walked up and down King St, and saw pretty things in all of these antique stores, vintage clothing shops and these other quirky little stores. Newtown also had all these random sculpture things, though my favourite ones were the giant ants made out of car parts.
Though, by the end of the day, our feet were killing us (I had stupidly wore my boots that day), and there didn't seem to be any benches anywhere (see pic for first makeshift bench), so after wandering for a bit, we parked our asses on a brick wall and just talked about fics and computer games for a while. Though most of our conversations that day always somehow lead to chicken for some strange reason, and apparently, Remus Lupin eating a cheese sandwich is hysterically funny (though that's probably because I fail at explaining fic).
We didn't go home empty handed though, Sarah went home with a second hand book for her dad, and I bought home a lovely red skirt and Jasper and Eric.
Jasper sits on my camera case on my desk, and Eric happily smokes his pipe on my work desk. ^o^
In our efforts to further explore places other than the city, we had been planning to try to go somewhere at least once a fortnight. This week was supposed to be the Vintage/Antique Fair, but I had forgotten to send out an invite, and there was trackwork this weekend anyway, so it was probably for the best. Especially since I still hadn't mastered pincurling (I was gonna go vintage for the occasion, because you could get prizes if you did), though I was somewhat successful last weekend, since I didn't end up going to Sarah's 19th (being without a ride home (Sarah King was my ride) and being unable to get over my own awkwardness being the reason, I am making it up to her next friday!). For once, I didn't look like an electrocuted Shirley Temple.
Before...
Behold the silk scarf! Very flattering, no? There's a pincurl peaking out from under it if you can see it. It's supposed to reduced friction on your hair or something, but I think that it's just fun to wear. ^o^
After...
Mind, this was after about an hour of brushing out. Maybe next time I'll take a picture just after all the pincurls come out (which looks pretty damn hilarious). I'm quite happy with how the fringey bit turned out, it just need to refine the back a bit, I think. Though I don't think I'll venture out of the house with this hair anytime soon. I don't know how the girls over at vintagehair do it, they make it look so damn easy! I swear, it's like a bloody art form. My mother said I looked like my grandmother, which I'm pretty sure is a good thing (Well, she had said it in a good way).
Oh yes, and I bought red flats, in an effort to wear less black. They are the most comfortable flats ever! And I quite possibly have a new favourite outfit!
Yes, the colours are kind of clashy, but I loves it. Okay, so it's just the bottom half, the top was just a top, a vest and my red cardigan. I probably looked like an idiot, but it was comfy and colourful, which made that grey cloudy day just a little bit brighter. ^o^
Next week? Lester's birthday on Tuesday (he's turning fourteen), and Sarah's fun thing on Friday
Expect to hear from me again then, but for now, ta ta!
