I made something! Well, I've been making lots of stuff, but with a hectic schedule, have been super lazy about posting. Also, I made this dress in about two days worth of time, because I decided last minute that I really did need a new dress for Monticello. And the fabric took a bit to come in.

My supervisor and I brought a few Tunis sheep to interpret at Monticello, along Mulberry Row. Jefferson had that particular breed, and strongly advocated for their use- good meat AND good wool sheep. He called them "Barbary sheep." We also brought some chickens.

Got the fabric from the big wool sale on fashion fabrics. It was labeled on the website as "brown," and the color appeared, well, a nice tan-ish brown. What color was it when it arrived? Taupe/grey/purple-esque. Brown is probably the last word I'd use to describe it! But, it's a very pretty color.

Draped it, except for the sleeves, and had Andy help me with the back pieces. Late 1790s, based on the green one at the MFA Boston. I'm very happy with how it turned out, except one sleeve was slightly smaller than the other when I set it in, which caused some stress.
