Living in Toronto

Aug 17, 2010 12:17

This is a late posting, but I went out to chill with some friends a few weeks ago during the civics holiday long weekend down on harbourfront at the urban beach.

It was such nice weather and just the perfect day to be at the beach.

Spotted this really old ttc street car on our way to starbucks to get some drinks and I decided to snap a picture of it! We actually got to board on this streetcar when we later decided to head downtown to watch Despicable Me at the AMC on Yonge & Dundas.

On our way back to the urban beach after getting starbucks, we passed by this market place that was selling stuff nearyby Harbourfront centre and I saw these cute little solar power moving toys!

A doraemon solar power moving toy! I have the little pink guy next to him at home that I bought from pacific mall 5 years ago. =)

CN Tower during the day and at night.

Watching the sunset at Lakeshore from Harbourfront.

My friends and I wanted to watch the sunset together and have dinner near by the lake (yes, we're such romantic friends, lol), but we went to many restaurants nearby the lake and it was all pretty expensive! So then we decided to go away from the lake and had dinner in the city at Shoeless Joe's instead. After dinner, we quickly ran back to the lake to watch the sunset but it wasn't the most beautiful sunset since it was kind of cloudy that day by the time the sun was setting.

It was a nice day out and exploring the city and all. It's so much different than from our "usual" routine of just hanging out by the mall and drinking fraps at starbucks. There are actually so many places in Toronto that I haven't been to. Having lived in Toronto/Canada for 16 years, I really haven't seen/been to the BEST places in Toronto yet. I've never even gone skiing before! Yes, as a Canadian, I fail at being Canadian! XD There are so many places I want to go to in Toronto and so many things I want to do, but there is never enough time to do them all. =(

I sometimes think Toronto is such a beautiful city, but there are also times when I think Toronto is such a BORING city! LOL. But I guess in most cases, it's just that I haven't really been out all that much and see what Toronto really has! So, I hope in the following 5 years or so, I could go out more and explore the city and see what Toronto really has to show me.

And while we're on topic, I just want to show you how beautiful Toronto can be.

Highway again.

I actually took these pictures off a friend's facebook taken with a SLR camera. lol. What a beautiful city Toronto can be!

On a different topic, I was reading Keiko's latest translation blog entry about childhood memories and food she remembers eating as a child for breakfast and thought it was really interesting. I like Keiko's consistency in updating her blog despite being so busy with filming and other work. Not only that, but her blog entries are always so detailed and meaningful. At least it's much better than her lover a certain someone's nikki update. *ahem* XD Food that I remember eating as a child. Hmm...it would have to be "skinny meat pie" (瘦肉餅) I always remember eating it as a child for lunch/dinner and I LOVE to especially add the sauce to my rice when I'm eating it. I still love eating it now when my mom makes it. It is delicious! ♥ Other than that, I guess taro pie is also one of the favourite foods I love eating when I was a kid.

And lastly, I just want to share about a recent discover I found on youtube of someone who does Japanese song covers. She has a lovely voice and she also did a lot of Otsuka Ai covers! In the video below, she is singing "Daisuki Dayo" which is one of my favourite Otsuka Ai songs.

She also did a "Renai Sashin" cover as well but it's not as great as Ai's version. Although she did a pretty good job but the part where she sings "Aishiteru" isn't quite at par with Otsuka Ai. I personally don't think anyone can sing Renai Sashin as great as Ai because she just has a very unique voice and the way she sings "Aishiteru" is full of love and passion, in which this person sort of lacks in that area. Anyway, I would say her best Ai covers are "Momo no Hanabira" and "LOVE LETTER" She sounds almost identical to Ai in LOVE LETTER. I would really love to hear her sing "Kingyo Hanabi" and "Amaenbo"  =) Her other covers are pretty good too. She sings "SEASONS" better than Ayumi, in my opinion. =P

And I finally get to watch Toy Story 3 next Tuesday! =D I've been wanting to watch this since it came out but never got a chance to! I just hope I won't cry in the movie, haha. I remember crying in Toy Story 1&2 when I watched it as a kid. XD
