Well, I returned from Italy two days ago...but was pretty badly messed up from the time difference to update! So here goes the intense update of all the Italy festivities:
Venice-Contrary to popular belief, Venice is not trashy. I found it to be very real. It was a beautiful island with cute little shops and cafes. Me, Nikki and Claire B had a fabulous time at one of the cafes and were given chocolate cake with a whole lot of rum in it. :) Merk and Laura got lost due to a watch malfunction. I love those gals! We had some crazy times in the Hotel Germania where we introduced to our first be-donk-a-donk. (AKA a Bedet...foot/butt washer thing). The food at this location was so so. Breakfasts boring...PASTA GREAT! Great shopping too. Bought most of my presents here for all kinds of awesome people.
Florence-My fave. How amazing this city was! We visited San Croce where the tombs of Michelangelo, Machiavelli, Dante and Galileo were located. I got wicked chills here. This is where I lost my 5 euro bill though and got VERY ANGRY. I talked about it for the rest of the trip haha. My posse of four (Steph, Morgan and Beth) did not go to the Academia or the museum to see David or the Birth of Venus. Lines were too long and there were too many other things to explore. By the way, Italian boys are quite forward and will attempt to lure American girls anyway they can. I did not budge for I love my Pat! I cannot sum op how spectacular the views are in Florence. Despite the 7 HOUR bus ride into the city...all in all...it was worth it! Even got to ride a Gondola! :) :) :)
Assisi-WICKED COOL! St. Francis Cathedral was one of the favorite places! It was gorgeous inside and I think I may have learned the most here just by reading signs. Our tour guide really had nothing informative to say the entire trip. Worthless wonder.
Rome-I was in my glory here. So much history! The ruins of the Forum, a Romen theater, the Colleseum (sp?) and my life goal---> the Sistine Chapel. I finally saw the Sistine Chapel ceiling which was definetely one of the things I promised to do before I died. Michelangelo is officially my idol. BEAUITFUL! AMAZING! And worth the horribly boring and horribly spoken tour of the Vatican museum. We saw the Pope speak as well. That was a very intriguing experience. Something I will always remember even though he was a little white dot in the distance. I also threw coins in the Trevi Fountain which ensure my return to Rome and that I will marry an Italian boy some day, which I changed to marry a European. Two Italians in one household would be terrible. There was a lot of drama at the location but again, I avoided conflict as much as possible. Ate some real Italian pizza with Laura, Morgan and Beth and enjoyed some rap battles from the hotel balconies.
Julio, our bus driver for the entire tour was one of the coolest people I have ever met in my life...even though he said the Yankees suck a few times. Murrey stole some food from the Florence hotel because they made Stacey pay for a broken TV (though it was not her fault). That was definetely a highlight of the 9 days.
What a life altering 9 days. I saw some places I never dreamed of seeing. Had some laughs that I will never forget (my face hurt from some of these). Spit water on every person at my dinner table. ;) Got to see the romantic city of Paris on the way home and spent more hours on an airplane than I have in my entire life. No longer fear flying. No longer fear taking on new cultures and I got close to people I have never talked to in my life. Laura P and Adrianna. Had the best roomies ever, despite some differences and I will truly never forget any of this. An l/j entry can never explain just how great it all was...
Ciao.
Ti amo!
PS-Bought my graduation dress. So pretty and mature and I am so ready to leave Merrimack High School in the dust. On to bigger and better things. :D
