Also!
Because I refuse to believe that anyone, even in the context of Big brother eight, could be dumb enough, to call someone the N-word on said show, especially after the furore over celebrity BB ( Read more... )

I don't reckon she's a plant. Her use of the 'n'-word seems depressingly consistent with her horrible middle-class ignorance and her lunk-headed understanding of pop culture. I would NEVER use the N-word, let alone sing it repeatedly in front of a roomful of strangers.

I ain't sayin' she a gold digger...

I will blow it out my arse by pointing out that I am Not Actually Watching BB. I do, however, read the papers almost religiously these days so find it hard to avoid.
What is ROH?

I've known for a long time. ha. And whenever I see it I always think it says 'AWWWOOOOOOOOOGA!'. But alas.

There are many other reasons to loathe bb. The canadian won't let me watch it for my own good, because I spend the following hour after it going 'am I a crap woman because i'm not like them?'

Ring of honour? This sounds like something war-y.

I don't understand why watching BB would make you think you're a crap woman. It's not like the show professes to display models of society, or models of (specifically in this case) womanhood. If anything, it relies on people finding the housemates appalling and objectionable.

Feef. You're an incredible person, as well as an credit to your sex. (A) Why are you comparing yourself to the people on Big Brother? and (B) Why are you finding yourself INFERIOR to the people on Big Brother? You're fucking brilliant!

I can't explain it myself.
I'm not sure that other women DO find the housemates objectionable. Bad example, I know, but my sister actually likes a lot of them. I think more men find them appalling than women, which is odder still, as they've mostly developed their personas to adhere to what they think men want. Women tend to be so used to the media telling them to be a certain way, that all other women become competition, and if we think that they're more appealing to men, we beat ourselves up.

I don't understand it either - if we assume that it's based on attracting men, I'm in a steady relationship, and pretty sure that the canadian isn't about to leave me for a wannabe wag, And yet I have regular dark nights of the soul where I seriously consider straightening my hair, buying a new wardrobe from River Island and Shutting the Fuck Up.

But thank you though! I do appreciate it!
