A Further Explanation for being "Members Only"
There are many common misconceptions regarding locked icon communities. I would like you, prospective member, to know that this community is not locked because I think my graphics are amazing or because I want a certain number of members. It is not locked because I think I am special or because I am looking for attention. It is locked for one reason-bandwidth issues, including unauthorized hotlinking.
Due to the large volume of graphics posted here, running out of bandwidth is a real issue for me, and maintaining the 'Members Only' status of this community legitimately cuts down on both malicious hotlinking and excessive but normal traffic. It limits the possibility of running out of bandwidth, a situation that would cause the graphics to be unavailable for periods of time and render the community purposeless (abet temporarily). Not to mention that an icon journal full of ‘bandwidth exceeded’ banners is simply annoying for all involved.
All are entitled to their own opinions regarding locked communities; this is simply the situation that I have found works the best for me.
I hope that I have made my personal reasons for being "members only" more clear. If you are still not interested in joining, for whatever reason, I completely understand and I hope that you will catch my public posts in the future.
