It's amazing that it has been three years since that horrid day. I must say life sure has changed since then and continues to today. My thought go out to all the families that lost loved ones on this infamous day - and we shall never forget.
The day it happened I had just got off shift (I was working on the ambulance at the time) and came home to move that day. We watched the TV in awe. It just seemed so unbelievable. The next day back at work and pretty much the entire week we were all in shock - for rescue workers tend to be close knit and we don't ever think much about the risks. Many of us called to see if more help was needed or what we could do, cause to do so was such an honor. We wore black bands around our left patch to mourn the loss of our brother and sisters who because of their beliefs and their sworn duty lost their lives. And then on shirts wore ribbons of red/white/blue with black for all those who lost lives. People looked at us with more respect and compassion since that day. It werid to be called someones hero - for we don't look at it that way - we were just doing our job, our duty, and following our passion.
Sad to see that it took such a horriable thing to bring out the compassion and patriotism that seemed so lost prior - hopefully we will never lose it again.
And now we must show that respect and compassion to our troops who fight to keep our freedom safe. For our soliders/sailors need our support more than ever, and they deserve it. Just because you don't agree with the war doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't support them - they simply do what they are told and signed up for. None who have died - have died in vain and none will. Freedom is priceless and without it what would you do....never forget
