This past week has been one of pain and frustrations but im happy to say that the end is in site. On May 26th I got my tonsiles removed after two years of chronic throat infectections and tonsilitis. The operation went fine with no complecations although it took me longer to wake up the others. My mom drove me home that night from Peterborough to Toronto to recover and all was going well. On Monday my mom and dad drove me back up to P dot because I had a seminar for my summer class and my teacher wanted me to be there. I threw up on the way home because I got car sick but I still seemed to be doing fine. Then Tuesday night I woke up with a fever and threw up twice the second time was blood. I had reopended my incisions and was taken to the hospital via ambulance. I spent the next 10 hours in the ER with an IV and high on morphine and gravol while the nurse monitored my bleeding which soon stopped. I threw up 4 more times during my stay. My poor Steve stayed with me after working the night shift and at 8am he finaly went home when my friend Ashlee came to stay with me. After holding down 3 popcicles I was told I could go home at 12pm. My mom came to get me that night as I was still not feeling very good and had thrown up again. I wasn't to happy because I wanted to see Steve graduate but there was no way I was going to be able to sit for 3 hours outside. Thursday morning I woke up again not feeling well and almost passed out and once again I made the trip to the ER this time in Mississauga. I think this a record 2 ER visits in less then 24 hours. I was dehydrated and in lots of pain so I had another IV stuck in me and more morphine and gravol. I was told I could go home later that day and have been slowly imporving since. On saturday I started to eat real food in small baby size bites, but I still have lost 10 pounds, which Im not complaining about. I think I should get bonus points in my class because it was Tuesday that this all started. I will never have surgery again and have I huge respect for my patients when they complain of pain and nausea after surgery. I'm still in pain but I'm only taking tylenol for it now which is better then codine. I could really go for a big pizza or a hamburger but I still cant eat it.
