I have a very expensive pen

I am only fooling myself.
I write these words
I wax eloquent
I put pen to paper to keep the real world away.

With every letter I write and don't send
with every sentence I twist to serve my spiteful purposes
I create a life that is beautiful for myself to hide in.

I will curl up inside of this tonight.
I will wrap myself in rhetoric
and laugh
oh I will howl.

I have beaten myself.
I have nothing more than these words
and it is all my doing
