*Warning, I'm about to go on a passionate political rant.*
My Grandpa served two tours in WWII and then re-enlisted to serve his country again.
Now he's in the VA where he's supposed to be recieving physical rehab after having been released from a local hospital. He fell at home, hit his head and suffered massive head trauma- a subdural hematoma (blood clot on the brain) to be precise. Emergency surgery was done and he was there for 13 days, after which he was transferred to the VA (Veteran's Administration Medical Center), where he was supposed to be recieving physical rehab.
He can't stand on his own, he doesn't have the strength or the coordination to lift himself from or lower himself into a sitting position. His doctor is sending him home to my Gramma, who can't be a PCA. He won't get a PCA to be there with him because she lives with him.
And here we go. Last year, Bush cut funding to the Veteran's Administration to fund his war. Sure, let's forget about the men and women who served their country so that we could have our freedom and just throw money at a "war" that's going straight down the tubes.
Thank you America for forgetting about the men and women who gave you what you have today. The mothers and fathers and sons and daughters who gave up their lives so that you could have an opinion about your own country, good or bad. The people who saw the unspeakable so that you could live in the free world. Nevermind any of that. Let's just push them into their graves since they're getting old and feeble.
