yea for the weekend

An interesting weekend I would say. It went by fast anyway. Got my first paycheck friday, which is always nice, even cooler that the rest of my paychecks will seem to come faster from now on. (We get paid every other friday and I started the week a check was coming out, so I had to work for three weeks before getting paid for the first two)...(i promise, it makes sense, I just couldn't think of a way to explain it succinctly).

I think I offended one of the lawyers here, the one that hired me incidentally, but I also think he's gotten over it, which is good. It was really dumb. I answer the phones up front from 8-9AM and from 12-1pm and then cover the real receptionists 15 minute breaks. Well Mr. Lawyer usually gets here at 7, so I usually see him hiding in his office or wherever and mark on my sheet up front that he's here so I know I can put people through to his office if they call. Well apparently Friday I didn't see him in the morning, so I didn't mark him in. Note that it's not like he makes a point of e-mailing or saying something when he arrives. When someone called for him I said I didn't believe he was in yet this morning (before 9 am, most of the other lawyers weren't in yet) but put them through to his voice mail. When the lawyer called him back, the caller gave Mr. Lawyer a hard time about not being in yet. Mr. Lawyer complained to the real receptionist who passed the message on to me, but she thought it was just him being too up on his pride. I thought it was funny. So I do my best now to just say that anyone has "just stepped away from his/her desk" so I won't get in trouble anymore. *sigh* and it's not like these lawyers are bad or not nice people. They've been really nice to me, but I don't get little things like that. *shrugs* Whatev, my mistake.

So I went up to g-town Saturday night. It was good to see people who are there researching n whatnot for the summer. Drinking, however, is dumb. *sigh* Retract that, Emmy's getting hang-overs the next day is dumb. Emmy's are dumb. I think my next visit(s) up there will be (a) dry one(s). It was really nice to see Laura Dobbs though. All my friends from around here that don't know her, I need to find a way for you to meet her. She's cool, in Singers with me and we're running mock trial together next year. And she's just always happy in a way that is contageous, not in a way that makes you want to punch her in the face. Yea for friends.

Is it bad that I'm starting to look longingly at August 20th? I don't really want class to start back up yet, and I need the $$ from working, but *sigh*. There are a few things I want to do this summer, but working isn't one of them. Neither is most of the things upon which my time is spent. *grumble grumble* poor emmy. *pbbbbbt* *with accompanying hand gesture*

I'm out.
