Because I've never done it before and haven't read many (if at all) with it, what exactly is "blood and breath play?"

It's essentially playing around with blood, like cutting someone, smearing blood on someone, and doing it in an erotic fashion. Breath play, an example of that would be breathing into someone's ear or whispering in their ear, usually it turns people on quite a bit when it's done to them.

Breathing into someone's ear is damn sexy. When most people say "breathplay", though, they mean temporarily smothering or choking a partner. Sexy strangling, basically. I'm sorry to be pedantic, but I saw this and felt I ought to put in my two cents so you wouldn't get any nasty surprises from people who use the term differently...

By having some self control, of course! Usually, the person doing the strangling will only use less than half of their true strength, and the strangling doesn't go on for very long. If it does, then the point is usually to cause the recipient to black out. Some people like that...
