Name: Emily
Age: 17
Horoscope: Gemini
Location: USA
Hobbies: writing (mostly fiction), drawing/art stuff, playing viola, reading…not sure how much I’m supposed to say here.
Three or four positive qualities about you: I’m curious, creative, and open-minded. I’ve also got quite the sense of humor. (Ironic, dark, silly, whatever. Just not outright idiotic humor, okay?)
Three or four negative qualities about you: I’m distractible and a procrastinator, and am firmly convinced that those two are related. Um. I’m also insecure sometimes?
Favorite book: Cosmicomics, by Italo Calvino. (Because you probably haven’t heard of it, I will tell you that it has lovely description and interesting concepts all built into stories.)
Favorite movie: Not positive, but Pan’s Labyrinth is way up there.
A quote I live by is…
“The time has come,” the Walrus said, “to talk of many things. Of shoes, of ships, of sealing wax, of cabbages and things. Of why the sea is boiling hot, and whether pigs have wings.”
I know that it doesn’t actually mean anything, but I like the general tone and ideas.
-Am I-
Good or Evil: A bit of a loaded question, isn’t it? Is anyone truly “evil”? I would guess that I’m mostly “good”, but would like to think that most people have more complexity to them than that. Very rarely do I see anything as complete black and white. There are a lot of shades of grey.
Dreamy or Realistic: Dreamy. That’s not to say that I’m never realistic, though, just that I tend more towards dreaminess.
Introvert or Extrovert: Introvert like whoa. I like my friends as much as the next person, but when it comes to opening up to people easily, no. I also like need my alone time. (You’d be surprised to see how bouncy I get when I do know people well, though, and like them quite a bit.)
Innocent or Cynical: I’d like to think that I’m a lovely mixture of both, like yen and yang. When it comes down to it, though, I could never be a complete cynic.
-Sweeney-
My favorite character is… hmm…perhaps the demon barber himself? I also like the Beggar Woman (not Lucy, just the Beggar Woman) because she’s quite crazy haunting and seems to somehow realize something about Sweeney that the others don’t. In general with the characters, I tend to like the ones who are twisted and interesting rather than those that are the nicest. (Or the ones that change over the course of the play, like Toby.) Indecisive? Yes.
My least favorite character is… Movie!Johanna is really quite a bore. Anthony is nice, but strikes me as rather silly. He falls in love with Johanna in all of two minutes or so (which always makes me skeptical), and takes a really long time to come to the realization that Sweeney is not so nice.
My favorite song is… very possibly the opening and closing Ballads of Sweeney Todd, actually. Very intense. After that comes “A Little Priest”, mostly because it makes me giggle.
I like Sweeney Todd because… A lot of the dark themes and dark humor, actually. As an added bonus, the music is quite good. This isn’t part of the question, but I like the play a lot more than the movie (though I did indeed enjoy the movie).
Please post 3 or more clear photos of yourself. If you do not feel comfortable with this, please describe yourself.
I’ve got brown, wavy hair in abundance, although it’s currently in a somewhat fluffy pixie cut. My skin is naturally more olive-toned, though it’s not especially dark. I have hazel eyes and a petite frame (5’1”-ish). My nose is neither thin nor especially pointy, which may or may not be relevant.
