Mother Dearest
In satire I call you now
You raised me up
And taught me what and how
Tucked me in
Cradled me close
Then changed your mind and shut me out
Mother Dearest
You are no mother to me
You were a trick
Labeled “sea to shining sea”
Your pretty words
Have failed me
Im no child any more
Momma you lied to me
You put me in my place
And have lost your sweet touch
And now I realize those lullabies and fairy tails
Could never acomplish much
But to put me to sleep
And lay dead in your house
So you could play momma
And overpower the rest
You aren't so big now momma
And now im all grown up
I see the tears in your seems
And the cracks in your stubborn hand
I'll be a man without a country
But at least ill be a man
After taking this stand
Against your false faith and lying hoped
Ill be a man without a country but at least ill be a man
