Recycle

I don't understand why he refuses to recycle.

He says he won't make a difference.  "Why should I piddle around looking for something to recycle in when I've got a trash can right here."  Another one of his arguments is that why should someone else profit from his garbage.

I don't get it.  I have two bins under my desk, one for recycling and one for trash.  I generally have to empty recycling every 4-5 days, trash can go more than 2 weeks between empties.  And we have so much paper it's ridiculous.  I have taken to, when I take my recycling home, to make sure his trash can isn't full of envelopes, magazines, etc.  It usually is.

Right now he is throwing out old literature.  I told him if he was just throwing out let me bring it home to recycle.  No.  Why? "I don't want to piddle around for a box to put it in."  My thought is the trash can and the boxes are in the warehouse, chose a box over the can.  He did tell me if I found a box he would use it.  I did.  When he saw the size he said, "If I fill that you won't be able to carry it."  My reply, "that's what dollies are for."

He drives me nuts.  No his little bit alone won't do much....of course this is probably 200 pounds of paper. My point is that if everyone does a little bit it becomes a big bit.  That it is for our children and grandchildren.

ARGH!
