This week has been really stressful for me, in both good and bad ways.
My dad has been in a mood- yelling and ranting at everyone one minute nice and apologetic the next. I know it's because he is working too much and my mom is away, but still- I don't need this shit!
De is staying at our house since my mom is gone and she hates being alone (dad is working that much- Saturday she called to tell him she was staying at my house at 11:30 and he wasn't home). She is being a pain in the ass. Saturday she refused to help out and wash a load of dishes. We argued and she left, eventually came back, washed dishes and ate dinner. She is so lazy-more than so than your average teenager. Probably because my parents don't give her much to do and then don't punish her if she doesn't do it so she doesn't want to do anything when she is at our house. All she wants to do is lay around on the couch under a blanket all day.
DeAnne gave us a hard time about taking the boys trick or treating after she volunteered to do it, "so you and dad can have some alone time and hand out candy.) Then she wanted one of us to go with her because, "I don't want to be alone."
Elizabeth came home Sunday. It's always nice to see her- she wanted to see the boys for Halloween. Of course this got De's panties in a wad.
I woke up late. My battery died in my car on Monday morning and I had to jump it- luckily E was at home so I had another car to use. And of course this was the day Dad was in the worst mood.
Tuesday-zoo day- I didn't get out of the store until 3- so no class.
De put off doing a paper for school Wed. until 10p.m. Tues. night and I think she essentially wanted me to write it. I did help her with it but only where to go with it, no actual writing. Ok, maybe a grammar correction or two but no actual writing.
Elizabeth called Monday night. She found a place to live and made a deposit that afternoon. When she was at home Sunday night she was on the computer, accidentally clicked on a link and found the ad. She called the next day and went out to look at it. It's perfect for her. Tiny one bedroom single wide mobile home. It is out in the "country" but only 10 minutes from UT campus and her work. The people who own it used to live in it until they built their new home- across the street all the relatives seem to live within view. It is on an old country road, small yard but on 6 acres. The landlady was very nice, even told someone else who drove in to look at it that E had taken it before she even signed the lease.
I went to look at it yesterday- it is a nice place for her, just what and where she needs. It is a one bedroom- very small, I don't know how she is going to fit her bed (futon) in there let alone anything else, however it does have two walk-in closets taking up one entire wall with a small dresser in them. The kitchen and living room are one big space, the kitchen has linoleum and the LR has laminate wood floors. Bathroom is cramped but has a full size tub, the closet where the heat and air unit is has shelving she can use for linens. It has a decent size screened in porch, nice to sit out on, especially in this weather. The previous tenants left 2 end tables, a kitchen table and chairs, a lamp, microwave, vacuum, and a love seat on the front porch. She is so proud of her place, it's good for her. I brought her cleaning supplies and we went shopping at the
Dollar Tree near her and picked up some little things. Ice cube trays, paper plates, latex gloves (for cleaning), some food, q-tips, Advil- some little things. And a few birthday presents for James (more on that next) She and Nick came down later to get some of her things-books, clothes, toiletries, etc. It's been bitter sweet .
Yesterday was James' birthday-9 years old. He is growing up too fast. I brought him and Thomas up to see Elizabeth's place and Tom made James his birthday dinner; ham and macaroni and cheese. While at the Dollar Tree I bought James a few presents- toys he wanted. Thomas didn't mind if he missed soccer which was good because we didn't leave E until after 6. After dinner we went to the store so he could pick out a cake (I bought him the cheesecake he wanted but didn't get a normal cake and he wanted both) He picked out a vampire cake. *L* Nick had cake with us- E doesn't eat cake. Boys got more wound up the later it got but settled down after dinner.
All and all Tuesday was a pretty good day, especially after the last few days
