First Meeting
So the first real boy scout meeting was tonight. I stayed at Thomas' because an old friend was there and we talked, mostly about scouting but also our other kids, etc. I overheard some of what they discussed and of course whenever Thomas' name was said my ears just automatically perked up. I had my back to the meeting so he didn't think I was being nosy.
They were very nice. Introducing him, bringing him into the group in a very welcoming way. He is the smallest in the group and probably the youngest. There was one boy who really seemed to take him under his wing. He is probably in high school, and at least a foot taller than Thomas but was so helpful and nice. Plus Thomas really liked him. I hope he will be a good mentor for Thomas.
The troop will be going on a campout this weekend and Thomas is so excited. Of course I will have to find some gear... I am glad he is getting into this.
