Back Again
So I am back working for my Dad. I haven't worked there regularly since 2003. I worked for a few weeks while he was on vacation in 2007 and for a few days here and there when he needed a warm body between other office help.
I am doing it because he hired De to work for the summer before he left for Marthas Vineyard. She started work the Monday before he left and after two weeks she was done and wanted to quit. Of course she had 5 days in a row off- took two for her birthday and July 4th and over slept one morning plus weekend... So she decided she wanted to quit after my dad found out she skipped work because she overslept and got mad. I told her that I would take over this for her Friday the 9th and tada! Monday morning I was back at the store for my dad.
A lot has changed in the last 7 years, but still more has stayed the same. I have to learn the computers again, pricing has all changed-of course- most procedures are the same however some of them have NOT been kept up with the way they were supposed to be ie: customer accounts with no notes as to what work was done and other details. The price books used to be in one spot and alphabetized are now all over the place and I have no clue. Heck my desk isn't even in the same-it is much better where it is now. He is no longer using some distributors and has picked up some new lines. Oy all the new product to read up on.
I have no clue how long he intends to keep me around. It will probably be for at least a month as he is having knee surgery on Monday (19th) and the doctor wants him on complete bed rest for at least 6 weeks. So I don't know. It's funny I kinda like it but he isn't back yet so no clue how it will be when he is back. When I worked for him before it wasn't so much the job I didn't like but him.
