Before bed tonight, during reading time, James came out with his hands behind his back. He came over to me at the computer desk. Looking quite sheepish he pulled a book out from behind his back and asked quietly, "didn't this used to be your favorite book?"
It was
Two eggs, please. When he was in pre-school/kindergarten we would read this book almost every night. This book helped him learn to read probably better than any other.
I told him no, it was our favorite book. He said, "we used to cuddle up and read it. Would you read it to me?" I told him "No. But we could read it together like we used to." He excitedly said ok, you read her (the waitress in the story) part and I will read everyone elses'. So we read together. It's a short book but it brought back so many warm and fuzzy memories.
When we started reading it he would read the waitress' part, and I would read the patrons parts then he started reading the patron's parts until he was finally reading the whole thing to me on a regular basis.
They grow up way too fast.
