Knitting

I have been knitting A LOT lately, everyday in fact.  I have knit
">more baby hats, finished a scarf for my mom, still need to add tassels to De's scarf, I finished Elle's meret.  I did it in a dark blue Soy Silk.  It's really nice, but I have to block it still, you really can't see the holes well so I have to open them up a bit.  I had intended it to be a Christmas gift but she really won't let up about giving it to her.  I am also working on felted slippers for the men in my family.  I have one pair that I have finished knitting (for Thomas), but will wait to felt until I have done all three pairs...Hey maybe I could do them for the FIL too hmmmmmm.  I have also completed several blocks for the afghan I am knitting.  The wool is Malabrigo merino kettle dyed, expensive but I can get just about 2 blocks from each hank.  I am using the Frost Grey (606) and the Tuareg (98). It is a beautiful wool, nice and soft.  I had intended to make this afghan for my uncle who has done so much for us, but I love the feel so much.  And I am also doing a
">dish cloth exchange, those are really fun and take no time at all.

I just finished up my first class, although I don't think I will take another class from her.   It was a beginners class that I took to make the Meret, because it had techniques that I had never done  And I then I started the slippers, she had taught a class on those very slippers but had a hard time reading the instructions "because this pattern than the one I have used for a long time but you can't get that pattern anymore" (the class was ion that very pattern).   Nice woman but very discouraging.  Any time I found something I wanted to try (like the moose hat) she would tell me it was too hard for a beginner, heck the hat I knitted was because the girl who made the store model said it wouldn't be too hard for me once she saw other things I had done.

I have now started a new class, I am making the felted slippers in this class but since I have figured those out pretty well I am going to start knitting this moose hat for my hubby.  It is done using a fair isle technique that I have never done but want to learn and the class is taught by someone who is a wiz at it.  I really like her.  So many people have said she is a great teacher and she is very encouraging!  She thought the fair isle looked fun and really liked the pattern I chose.

I have met some really great women at The Yarn Haven.  I think Kori, Linda and Aggie are my favorite Wednesday afternoon knitters, and I really like Stephanie who is in my block of the month class.  I met some very nice ladies during my first class and I look forward to getting to know the ladies in my second class.  Of course the ladies who work there are very nice too.  Linda keeps giving me new stitches and patterns to try- Woot!  She even includes swatches of her favorites so I can see what they look like.

This is really longer than I intended but I haven't blogged about knitting in awhile so forgive me.

Dang it is getting late, I need to head to bed.  Night all.
